About Orlagh

Orlagh Milligan is an Irish artist and Art Psychotherapist, whose creativity is deeply rooted in her coastal upbringing and her family's legacy within the fishing industry. Born and raised in the picturesque fishing village of Ardglass, Co. Down, Orlagh's connection to the sea is evident in her vibrant nautical artwork, which captures the essence of sea-life with bright colours and intricate detail.

Orlagh's artwork serves as a loving tribute to her childhood spent playing by the ocean and accompanying her Fish Merchant Father to the bustling fish factory. Her nautical art resonates with those who also harbour coastal memories and possess family ties to the sea, and collectors from the UK, Ireland, and around the world now acquire her pieces.

Having studied at Ulster University, Orlagh graduated with a BA in Contemporary Applied Art in 2017 and with an MSc in Art Psychotherapy in 2022. While Orlagh pursues her career as a Fine Artist part-time, she also works with individuals in educational settings as an Art Psychotherapist. Her training in art psychotherapy allows her to adopt a psychodynamic approach to her practice, understanding and exploring the deep-seated emotions and memories associated with coastal living. Through her therapy work and her art, Orlagh creates a space for self-expression, healing, and introspection, allowing individuals to navigate their own emotional journey.
